Devils Lake Foundation

The CHI St. Alexius Health Devils Lake Foundation is a charitable tax exempt corporation for the sole purpose of supporting and enhancing the health care mission of CHI St. Alexius Health Devils Lake Hospital.

In April 2016, the Foundation became "CHI St. Alexius Health Devils Lake Foundation" as the hospital joined with 12 other locations in North Dakota to form the CHI St. Alexius Health Regional Healthcare System. Our foundation remains an independent, local entity which raises funds for direct needs at our Devils Lake location.

The mission of the Foundation is to support programs and projects related to health care through which donors can share in the philanthropic goals of the hospital. The ultimate recipient of a gift could be a member of your family, a close friend, or a neighbor receiving care at CHI St. Alexius Health Devils Lake Hospital. Donations to the Foundation are tax deductible and can provide considerable tax advantages. There are many gifting opportunities including donations of stock, cash, charitable gift annuities, insurance proceeds, gifts-in-kind, real estate, trusts, and wills.

The Foundation is managed by a local Board of Directors comprised of community leaders and area residents who annually meet to set a program of work to accomplish the goal of funding hospital needs, building the endowment fund and carrying out projects essential to growth and development.

Ways to Give

There are many ways to give to the CHI St. Alexius Health Devils Lake Hospital Foundation. You can give donations of cash, stock, charitable gift annuities, insurance proceeds, gifts-in-kind, real estate, trusts and wills. Donations to the CHI St. Alexius Health Devils Lake Hospital Foundation can be recognized as a charitable deduction and may provide your estate with considerable tax advantages.

General Contributions
We welcome general, outright donations of cash or stock to a foundation at any time. These gifts will be used for the area that has the greatest current need for financial support or you may designate your donation. Businesses can donate a cash sponsorship for an event.

Gifts of Remembrance
Memorial gifts may be made for any occasion. Births, anniversaries, deaths and/or other life-cycle events are wonderful opportunities to create or add to an already established memorial for a loved one or special friend. We are pleased to receive donations in their name.

Bequests
A gift can be made through a will or living trust which will not reduce your current income. This type of contribution can be specified to include a set dollar amount, a percentage of the estate or certain remainders of the estate after others are provided for. Or you may choose to gift a certain asset belonging to the estate.

Beneficiary Gifts
Naming a foundation as a beneficiary in your life insurance policy is a terrific way for our donors to help us ensure the stability of care in our community for future generations.

Charitable Annuities and Trusts
Agreements between the CHI St. Alexius Health Devils Lake Hospital Foundation and you can establish a guaranteed income for the rest of your life. There are many ways to increase your present income and provide continued support for our community after you are gone. At the same time, you can reduce the amount of income and estate taxes that might be required.

Matching Gifts
Many employers sponsor matching gift programs and will match charitable contributions made by their employees. This way the impact of your gift may be doubled. Some companies also match gifts made by retirees and/or spouses. To invite your business/company to consider a matching gift policy, please contact our Foundation Director for details.

Gifts in Kind
You may choose to donate a product you purchased for the CHI St. Alexius Health Devils Lake Hospital foundation enclosing the product receipt or donate services and provide a receipt equivalent to the value of the service.

Is My Gift Important?

Yes. Whether you give $10, $100, $1,000 or more, you can be sure your gift is important. In total, the donations allow a foundation to perpetuate excellence and continue its mission of serving all who need care. Every gift is tangible evidence that you are involved in and concerned with quality health care for our community.

How is my gift used?

The answer to this question is simple - however you want it to be used. Your gift may be restricted or unrestricted. Unrestricted gifts make it possible for a foundation to have flexibility - flexibility to meet their special and emergency needs. Your gift is an investment which brings an enriching return to the giver as well as to the receiver. Endowments may be established as unrestricted or with donor restrictions.

It is your choice if you choose to be recognized by the CHI St. Alexius Health Devils Lake Hospital Foundation for your donation or choose to remain anonymous. We honor your donor requests.
